It’s unbelievable how fast everything can change. In a matter of just a few months a quiet, mystical place can turn into a holiday fever attraction. The silence makes room to the laughter and noise of the chatting tourists crowds.
The “sport of kings” gets democratized and the lineup fills up with colorful rush vests and surfboards.
It’s ok, we knew it. We get up earlier and try to find our little corner of peace at the lights of dawn. When the day blooms it all starts again.
I chose black and white to capture those chaotic moments at Côte des Basques to let us focus on the contrasts of the elements in the picture. This way we can appreciate more the situation and don’t get distracted by the mash of colors melting together under the summer sun.
