As Italian I definitely know what the term "festivity" means. Going home for Christmas is a must - you don't even have the right to doubt your presence there. Your family waits for you, they've already changed your bed's sheets and your mum started cooking a week before the Christmas eve dinner.
Since the moment you put your feet into the house, a sweet and warm smell of cake and chocolate and many other delicatessens you will be going to feast with during the whole visit overwhelm you.
You're done. This will be the beginning of a 10 days marathon of family lunches and dinners, visits to grandparents for a coffee and a slice of cake, after-dinners with friends.... But wait, you can't eat it all, you promised. Ok, maybe just another bite.
And then you find yourself after the holidays, a few kilos more, writing another list of good resolutions for the new year - including a lot of detox, healthy food, workout and gym classes. You know you can do it. You said the same last year, but this time you're gonna keep your word for real. Yes you'll do it.
To keep me motivated, I had a look on the internet for the most delicious healthy detox meals and juices and wanted to share them with you. Ready?

Super Green Juice (via Nouvelle Daily)
Ingredients:
2 apples1 big handful of kale or spinach
1/2 lemon
1 inch chunk of fresh ginger
1 large chunk of cucumber
(optional) 1 tsp wheatgrass or spirulina powder
water
Step One
Prep the fruit and veg by removing the skin off the lemon and quartering the apple. Crush and compact the spinach with your hands into a small ball to help it go through the juicer better.
Step Two
Juice everything and then mix in the superfood powder if using. Easy. We like to add some extra water to our juice so we unconsciously drink more fluids and make it go a little further.
Pour it over ice and you have yourself a delicious wake-up call!

Garlic Ginger Detox Sauté (via Hello Natural)
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon coconut oil (or extra virgin olive oil)
2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1-inch piece of ginger, shredded
2 cups shredded purple cabbage
1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
1 cup shredded carrot
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon coconut aminos*
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
*Note: If you do not have coconut aminos, you can substitute Bragg’s Liquid Aminos, soy sauce or 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt.
Toast the sesame seeds. Heat a dry sauté pan on low. When the pan is hot, add the sesame seeds. Toast for about 2 minutes until golden. Remove the sesame seeds from the pan so that they don’t continue cooking. Set aside to use in the final step.
Take a sauté pan and add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. When the coconut oil is hot, add the onions. Sauté until soft. Add shredded ginger, and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes. Add purple cabbage and allow it to soften. When the cabbage is soft, add mushrooms and shredded carrots. Add the minced garlic, and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the coconut aminos, and toss until thoroughly mixed. Turn off the flame, and top with toasted sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds. Makes 2 servings.
