Spring

Spring has finally come! I know, I've said that before... But, what can I say, I like to think that the sun is sticking with us for longer than just a few days.

So, this weekend the goal is to take advantage of the warmth and spring-like weather as much as we can!

These pics have been taken yesterday. The weather was so good, warm enough not to sweat and just chill and watch the waves... All smiles!

Many of you out there are lucky enough to live in an endless summer country in some part of the world. You know, sometimes I'm a bit jealous - things are quite different here. But, you know what, I'm getting used to it and kinda starting liking it :)

Let's just say that when the sun shines here, it's waaay more special.
And today it's like that!

Waves photography addiction

So, yesterday I came home from work - one hundred thousand things to do. But people said the waves were amazing, something rare between winter stormy days. 

I'm not brave enough to go in the water with 1°C (33.8°F) outside, but I thought it was still worth of taking some shots.

So, whatever all the busy woman stuff I had to do. I took my camera, went down and snapped a few.

I don't know, but when it comes to shooting the waves I become a junkie and just can't stop. Winter waves, summer waves, it's just the same - there's something magical in capturing the best one of the set and the perfect moment when the wave is about to break and the next just behind... The lights that magically play all around, making the masses of water shine...

Ok, I stop here, I promise.

But just for now - if you're a waves photography junkie like me, you know what I mean... ;)

Autumn orange sky

It's mid October already and after a year I am finally getting used to Basque Country's unpredictability. Right after a so-so summer, I was just starting to resign myself to autumn's oncoming approach, when the weather started giving us amazing sunny beach days and great surf sessions. I think I might fall in love with autumn here.

A few weeks ago my mister came back after an after-work surf session telling me to take my camera because "You absolutely have to see this!".

It was the most spectacular orange sky I had ever seen since I came here. With such amazing overhead waves breaking on the spot. A bit big for me though.
But he was right - I definitely had to see that.

It was quite a romantic moment. Not summer anymore, but neither autumn yet. A quiet yet excited atmosphere was floating in the air.
I am glad I had the chance to be there and immortalize that moment.

Through the stone fence

Recently I found myself asking whether I made the right decision moving here or not. My mister and I had to face all the problems you can find in your path when you are an immigrant in another country.

Papers, dossiers to be filled, a new language to be learnt...

Then the rainy weather and the not so frequent winter surf, which is always not as good as you expected.

You see pictures of your friends surfing at your home spot, your brother is telling you his wife's waiting a baby, and your mum just made that dish you love...

But you're far away from all of this.

Then the other day I was walking the little path down to the beach in front of my flat here in Biarritz. Breathed the salt air and my sight went right through the stone fence, to those beautiful breaking waves.

Suddenly I understood that sometimes things must be seen under a different light or from another perspective in order to realize how beautiful they really are.

So yes, every journey encounters difficulties and obstacles. But if we stop and change the way we look at them, we may find amazing adventures and beautiful shining water masses waiting to be ridden.

I feel lucky to live by the ocean.
